Nicholsons Jewellers: Vintage & Antique Rings & Jewellery
Established in 1988, Nicholsons is a husband-and-wife run business specialising in Vintage Rings, antique jewellery and contemporary jewellery are the twin passions at family-run, Yorkshire-based jewellery specialists, Nicholson’s, where our guiding mantra is Everyday Luxury. Renowned for elegant and authentic vintage jewellery and vintage rings, many of which are the perfect vintage engagement rings, we have an extensive choice all available to buy securely online or in store in Yorkshire.
Who we are and what we do
Who?
With a beautiful location at the foot of Ilkley Moor, Nicholsons Jewellers was founded in 1988 by Cliff and Elaine, a husband-and-wife team with an incomparable expertise in luxurious and extraordinary vintage and modern jewellery designs. Cliff is a Fellow of the Gemological Association and, unusually with the jewellery profession, also has a good knowledge of workshop processes. With a natural talent for design (Cliff’s other career choice was architecture), and from a family of writers, musicians, artists and film makers, his artistic flair has been put to very good use in the many bespoke designs that have been created in our on-site workshop.
With a jewellery obsession starting in childhood, life as a specialist in vintage and antique jewellery is the perfect career choice for Elaine. A good background in antique jewellery history and retail Elaine works in the shop but, mainly, her expertise is in taking our vintage jewellery for sale online at nicholsonsjewellers.co.uk. We are members of our professional body, the National Association of Goldsmiths.
What We Do: Vintage & Antique Jewellery
Central to our philosophy, is the belief that buying jewellery should be a relaxed, enjoyable experience. For that reason, our boutique-style jewellery shop is light and airy, and brimming with the very best selection of antique jewellery, vintage rings and contemporary designs.
Renowned throughout Yorkshire and beyond for our sparkling choice of vintage engagement rings, you can also be sure to find a dazzling array of vintage diamonds, bold antique silver bangles and necklaces and delicate, gem-set pendants from the Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras. But that’s not all, you’re just as likely to come across some retro fabulousness from the 1970s – perhaps an over-sized cocktail ring – or some starkly designed Scandinavian silver bangles.
Whatever you choose, you can be sure of one thing: we’ve chosen with just as much care as you’re going to.
What We Do: Contemporary & Bespoke Jewellery
Not a fan of vintage or antique jewellery? Well we’re also in love with contemporary designs and the quality demands that we have when selecting vintage and antique jewellery are also applied to our choice of contemporary brands.
Currently meeting these criteria are Andrew Geoghegan, Paul Spurgeon, Bien Wedding Rings, Hot Diamonds, Reeves & Reeves, and Jersey Pearl and we continue to source contemporary designs which reflect our brand image. We also have a range ‘Nicholsons Own’ because not everyone wants to live in the limelight (really?) Because we’re putting our name to these designs we’re quite fussy about it. However, we’ve chosen a few designs from even fewer manufacturers that we feel our customers will love. So, here, you’ll find everything from a pair of silver earrings to a diamond set wedding ring – always with the emphasis on quality.
Our jewellery design studio is staffed with experienced and gifted artisans who are as happy to work with an old-fashioned pencil and sketchpad as they are with up-to-the-minute computer-aided design (CAD). We would be delighted to create (or recreate from your existing jewellery) a bespoke item to your, or our, design. Why not get in touch to find out more – nothing ventured, nothing gained!
We’re also members of the National Association of Jewellers (previously known as the National Association of Goldsmiths). This institution has a strict Code of Practice to which all its members must adhere. It is also active in the eduction of those working within the jewellery industry.
